Paper Play
Paper Play I
Paper Play IV
I make things with paper — books, book cradles, mountings for photographs, even shelves. Some or part of these things are ultimately made of museum board or foam core but they nearly always start out as forms I work out with small pieces of paper. Beyond the use of a thing sometimes the shape itself interests me. If I see a shape I like in a book or online I’ll make it and sit it on my work surface to look at. I once set two small paper shapes on a square of paper and left them for so long that a spider spun a thread between them ⇢
Eventually I thought to photograph the shapes and to use the photographs in a series of small books.
