Drawing Books: Corinna
Corinna / Ensemble
Part of my practice has included drawing a person weekly for several months, sometimes for years. The intimacy that the time spent together engenders becomes part of what the drawings are about.

Corinna is an actress that I saw in a wonderful performance of Beckett stories titled Desinence. Later I saw her again waiting tables at a neighborhood restaurant. When I had worked up the nerve I asked her to sit for drawings — and she said yes.
I drew her for awhile, then I photographed her in rehearsals for more than one play, and then I made drawings of her again. I’ve been to see her performances and read her writing and she’s read my writing. We’ve been friends now for many years.
The two groups of drawings were made eight years apart, enough time that I can see the changes in her face.
