My work life involves staying home most days — working.  So when COVID hit and everyone needed to stay at home it wasn’t much of a change.  Except now no one came to the studio.  And in particular I had no model.  After a while I thought I might as well draw myself.  I set a mirror on a wide window sill and sat a chair beside the window and I drew my shirt and sometimes my hand as I drew.  I’ve always liked the way fabric can form itself to describe the gesture of the body beneath it.  I have always liked drawing fabric.  And somehow it was a relief not to draw my face.

I continued drawing for awhile.  Different days, different shirts, different gestures.  Then I made the drawings into books.  Set into a book, the shift of gestures create a kinetic feeling.
